‘Adventure is out there’ / ‘Camp. Explore. Dream. Discover’
There is nothing better than spending a night out in the Marlborough Sounds, especially after having spent the day sea kayaking. Heading out for an overnight trip with a guide is an ideal way to introduce yourself to multi-day paddling. There are many idyllic uncrowded campsites in which you will be able to set up for the night. Alternatively, you could paddle into a lodge for a nice comfy bed for the night, if you prefer.
Take the time to relax in the bush surrounds and enjoy the magnificent water views; after all you are out there for two or more days. Your guide will provide all your meals, including snacks on arrival at your campsite.
Having spent a night out, you will wake up to the sounds of the dawn chorus. Have a leisurely breakfast before loading your sea kayak again and heading off to further explore some of the inner sounds’ many bays.
Typically we will depart from and return from Anakiwa. However, we can run these trips in the Kenepuru and/or Pelorus Sound if you wish. We meet at our base, junction of Queen Charlotte Drive and Anakiwa Road, at 8:30AM and finish by 4.30PM the final day.
Your guide will be able to teach you about some of the finer points of sea kayaking, take away the stress of needing to interpret the weather, as well as teaching you the odd fact about the local flora, fauna and even a bit of history.
