For those of you who want to explore more of the area in a day, we have some 1-way options from our base in Anakiwa. Starting from our base at 8:30am you can then choose to jump on the Link Pathway to Picton (great for families and beginners) or the Queen Charlotte Track through to Lochmara Lodge for the more adventurous riders.
Wherever you decide to ride, there will be stunning views all the way. With no time pressures, you have plenty of time to soak in the area. Make sure you remember to pack your swimming gear as there are plenty of options to stop at one of the lush Sounds beaches along the way for lunch and a refreshing dip.
Getting to Lochmara Lodge or Picton early is never a bad thing. Lochmara Lodge offers one of the most unique experiences in NZ with native animals to feed or check out the underwater observatory and art all over the property. Picton on the other hand has all the shops, art galleries and coffee shops you will ever need for an afternoon.
You should have time for a coffee or cold drink before catching the scenic water taxi back to Anakiwa. The day finishes with a short ride back to base is a great day out.
For those of you feeling super adventurous, check out the 2 and 3 day bike options below.
