This 1-day guided walk is great for those of you with limited time in this area or to get the kids introduced to trail walking.
Your morning starts at our base, where you will meet your intrepid guide for the day, and prepare for your trip. From the track start in Anakiwa you will work your way along the track, just above the water and through some beautiful beech forest to Davies Bay. From there, the track will climb about 180m to a lookout with a spectacular view across the Queen Charlotte Sound. Listen to the birds sing, watch the boats cruise through the Sound and really immerse yourself in the environment.
You will continue to follow the old bridle path to Te Mahia Saddle, with a stop for lunch somewhere along the way before tackling some steeper terrain for about 15mins. This will offer views of both the Kenepuru and Queen Charlotte Sounds.
When you get to the Lochmara Lodge turn off, it is a cruisey hour walk down to the lodge through their grounds for the last 10-15mins. There are plenty of entertaining and engaging sculptures through the property so allow yourself some time to take these in.
Once at the Lodge you can stop at the cafe and enjoy a refreshing beverage while chilling at the beach or maybe from the hammocks whilst you wait for the Water Taxi to take you back to Anakiwa.
