This trip is for all adventurous souls out there who want to do three activities over three days on the Queen Charlotte Track. This trip can be done either freedom or guided. If you would only like it partially guided then please enquire.
Day 1: Walk Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge 17km 5-6 hours
Your 3 day combo adventure starts with a beautiful water taxi ride from Picton out to Ship Cove. From Ship Cove, the track works its way up to a saddle with spectacular views across to Motuara Island and Resolution Bay. Once you have descended into Resolution Bay, you will follow an old bridle path up to Tawa Saddle, which offers views across Endeavour Inlet. The track then drops down to the beach and winds its way through the bush to Furneaux Lodge. Your water taxi will arrive at around 4.30pm to transfer you across to Punga Cove, your humble abode for the night.
Day 2: Mountain Bike Punga Cove to Portage Resort 24km
You have 2 options for your ride today – track or scenic road ride. The track is a challenging ride with some steep sections to give you stunning views of the Sounds. Once you have ridden along the ridgetop to Black Rock Shelter, you will start the exhilarating descent down to Portage Resort.
For those of you that would prefer a scenic road ride, that option is available. From Punga Cove you can follow Kenepuru Road to Portage Resort. The road is gravel to start with and passes through some classic rural NZ farms.
Once you are through the farmland you will hit a tarmac road and follow the waters edge into the Portage Resort.
Day 3: Sea Kayak from Torea to Anakiwa
Now that you have had two days of spectacular views from up on the tops, it is time for you to experience the Sounds from the water. You will receive a briefing before heading off on your kayaking adventure. Sun, seals and super fun times are all to be had from the seat of your kayak. Work your way along the gorgeous coastlines to Anakiwa for the end of your epic three day adventure. This can be guided (including lunch) or done as a freedom rental.
